Construction Injuries Down More Than 26 Percent in 2019 as City Enforcement Efforts Increase

Although major construction project permits increased between January and October 2019, New York City officials have announced that the number of injuries during building construction have declined over 26% compared to the same period in 2018.

The decrease in construction injuries can be attributed to the 2018 launch of the Department of Buildings’ Construction Safety Compliance Unit and 2017 implementation of worker safety training at NYC’s larger construction job sites.
