This leading material supplier and consultant to the construction industry is seeking to add a Draft Person/Designer to our growing engineering department. We are a mid-size firm specializing in reinforced concrete structures located in Bergen County NJ.

We focus on concrete shoring & forming designs for buildings in the greater NYC area. This position requires excellent AutoCAD skills. The position requires working closely with our sales staff, manufacturing group, and our clients. You will be required to do material take-offs and create detailed drawings suitable for manufacturing and field layout. You will report to our chief engineer and occasionally go on site visits. Successful candidate requirements:

  1. Excellent AutoCAD and Math skills
  2. Ability to read structural drawings and interpret construction plans & specs
  3. Ability to follow a construction project schedule and meet client deadlines
  4. Clear communication with coworkers and clients
  5. Detail oriented to draft new projects and modify existing drawings
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  7. Self-motivated, fast learner and willing to put in extra hours when needed (compensated)

Job Description:

We're currently seeking a Shoring and Formwork Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of shoring/formwork design for assigned projects, conduct job site visits, and foster strong client relationships. This role requires initiative, critical thinking skills, and a passion for learning. The ability to adapt to changing environments and be comfortable with ambiguity is key. Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of shoring/formwork design for assigned projects.
  • Conduct job site visits and provide on-site support as necessary. Having a car is highly preferable for this responsibility.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Create and review production, submittal, and standard catalog drawings.
  • Maintain a current, up-to-date understanding of AutoCAD and related software.
  • Maintain computer systems in the engineering office.
  • Work closely with our Professional Engineers to design/draft hi-rise reinforced concrete forming and shoring systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and related software.
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of shoring and formwork systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Possess a car and willingness to travel for job site visits.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing environments and be comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Proven critical thinking skills and a strong desire to learn.

Senior Project Engineer

Role Description

Explore a career with Engineered Devices Corporation in Ridgefield Park, NJ, as our new Licensed Senior Project Engineer - Shoring and Forming, where you will contribute both in our office and through remote work arrangements, on a full-time basis. The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing formwork and shoring solutions for clients, leading technical meetings with clients, and providing engineering support. In addition, the Senior Project Engineer will provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, review technical drawings and submittals, and execute shoring and forming design solutions with a strong focus on safety.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer formwork and shoring solutions for various construction projects.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and plans using CAD software.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • Estimate material costs and provide detailed lists for quotations and deliveries.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and supervise temporary works design.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and safety regulations.
  • Meet clients at jobsites to review shoring/forming drawings.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer License in NY and NJ.
  • 5+ years of experience in formwork, shoring, or structural engineering.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent analytical skills, technical proficiency, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with design-build projects and knowledge of industry safety practices.
  • Proficient in common Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat.
